A Double-Minded God?

Ezekiel 18:23, "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?"

Proverbs 1:26-27

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

And this is supposed to be a loving, patient, long-suffering, forgiving God? If I didn't know where this statement came from, I'd believe it was said by a heartless person.

Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"

Not of works, meaning that nothing people do (good or evil) ensures or disqualifies one from receiving salvation.

And yet, we read in James 4:8,

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.

Drawing, cleansing, and purifying the heart (which we cannot do anyway) are among the forms of work.

Blatant Contradictions in the Bible That Almost No One Recognizes or Comprehends

Psalm 2:11, “Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”
Psalm 33:18, “Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;”
Ephesians 5:21, “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
2 Corinthians 7:1, “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

Yet...1 John 4:18, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."

2 Timothy 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

This is not a rhetorical statement; it's not a suggestion. It sounds like a command. There are numerous passages in the Bible that mention human beings being perfect like Jesus or the Father. However, it contradicts texts that state the opposite of mankind.

Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Genesis 8:21, "for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth."

Psalm 14:2-3, "The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Psalm 53:1-3, it's the same as Psalm 14.

Ecclesiastes 7:20, "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not." (But I thought Noah, Job, and Daniel were righteous? Ezekiel 14:14)

Jeremiah 4:22, "For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge."

2 Chronicles 6:36, "If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,)...", except for a few selected people in the Bible, right?

Micah 7:2, "The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net."

Numbers 23:19- God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

Exodus 32:14- So the Lord changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people.

Jeremiah 26:19, Amos 7:3, Jeremiah 26:13

Psalm 7:11, "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day."

Proverbs 14:17, " He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated."

According to the New Testament, Hebrews 13:8- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. The Old Testament, Malachi 3:6- For I the Lord do not change.

There are three separate personas in one godhead, correct? To summarize, Jesus is the God of both the Old and New Testaments.

So, the god of the Old Testament that is ordering the deaths of countless people (including babies, children, and animals) from different nations because they worshipped other gods (although the god of the Bible never made himself known to them, only the Israelites) is Jesus of the New Testament, the god who so loved the world, that he sacrificed himself for his "chosen.” A just and righteous God? No. A true, righteous God would make himself known to his entire creation, not just a small group. Mercy, forgiveness, and life would be offered to ALL, not to a specific chosen group of individuals. Jesus = allegory and Astrotheology.
